Problem with wish list

August 1st, 2006 by kerrlim

Only one day after I wrote the wish list, problems start to arise…no no, its not about the weird stares and the "bu yao lian" remarks which people gave (though, hey, I should take that into consideration as well…CAN’T I HAVE A WISH LIST???)

-

Okay, back to the main point. The problem with my wish list is that I have great friends…and as everyone knows…great minds think alike…and so…hypothethically, I might end up with 6 or 7 earpieces…hahaha.

-

So, in order to solve this problem, I shall bring my "bu yao lianess" to the next level. Someone already promised to bake me a cake (though i’am not sure whether she was just joking). Tseyong and Gerard probably getting me the earpiece (Geko, sorry, you are 1 step too late…I hope you don’t return from Australia with another earpiece for me…lol). Oh yesh, and someone said that she would give me her unfinished nougats so I can make up "one bag full". (see, I have such "good" friends) and lastly, Samsung gonna hold a party for me at Padang with 1,500 skaters.

-

Well, pretty much that’s it for now…there are still many other options available. (I really want a watch) muahahaha.

What I want for my birthday!

July 30th, 2006 by kerrlim

For those of you who know me very well, you would probably know what I want for my birthday over the past few years hasn’t really changed. Yesh, chuckle, smile, laugh…and indeed, it has remained unchanged, somehow. *sad* hahahaha.

-

Well, that aside, there is a list of things that has somehow accumulated over the past 1 year that I would need (want in fact, I don’t need them for survival)

-

1. I need a dress watch. However I also need a sports watch for all my outdoor activities like blading, swimming, running etc. Thus, I conclude that if there’s a watch that can function both as a dress and a sports watch, that’s what i’am looking for.

-

2. I need a new headset for my O2mini. I want my music when I’am travelling from pt a to pt b. Been deprived of it since the wire of the old set has frayed.

-

3. I need a screen protector for my laptop. Though I don’t plan to use it more than 3 years (will get another free one from singnet after the 3 years contract expire in late 2008)

-

4. I need a laptop bag for my laptop. (Somehow free laptop don’t come with laptop bag. wat der)

-

5. I need a new sets of wheels for my blades. (Damned alvin for having 84mm wheels…too bad mine only can accomodate up to 80mm). Hmm…might as well change that to a new set of blades then.

-

6. I need a set of protective gears from Salomon for blading. (Don’t know how long more I can rely on my sis’s guards)

-

I think that’s about it for now. Seriously, I think I would be lucky to get 2 out of the 6 items here. :)

Priority Queue

July 22nd, 2006 by kerrlim

Was pleasantly surprised today when I went groceries shopping for my picnic items before watching "ballet under the stars" at Fort Canning (Well, that would be another blog entry, if I choose to write something on it)

-

Priority Queue is probably something which is not new to you. You would have seen it when you go clubbing, buying a movie ticket, collecting a ticket from SISTIC etc

-

But Priority Queue at a supermarket, hey, that’s something new…well…at least to me. Well, its something that you would really welcome at the supermarket when even the express lane seems to crawl like a normal one. Though frankly speaking, I’am not too sure how long this lane would remain "priority" as compared to the rest. Simply put, its gonna to be a matter of time when everyone get their hand on a POSBank "everyday" card and with only 1 such "priority lane" in Carrefour Plaza Singapura, i’am not sure whether it would really be "priority" in time to come. Well, at least, that’s what i’am already seeing at GV cinemas where the so called "priority" Visa cardholders ain’t getting their tickets anyway faster than the other "non-priority" Master/AMEX cardholders.

-

I supposed I would just have to do more groceries shopping for the time being and enjoy being given "priority". Pretty much what I want in life, isn’t it? (Especially going out to those who did not want to give me priority…lol)

Salsa Revisited

July 13th, 2006 by kerrlim

Just went back salsaing at hardrock cafe after a break of nearly 3 months…hmm…have it been that long already? I think so…3 months, that would make my last visit to salsa in April or May…I think that’s quite accurate.

-

Really had fun last nite! It was nice seeing so many old faces there earlier, it was nice to relive the lifestyle that I had for a good part of last year and it was nice to dance after such a long break. Thanks to all those that I have danced with earlier…hopefully I didn’t use too much force or twisted your arms or something…lol. Do forgive me if I had somehow did that. :P

-

The most important is still about having fun and I really did. Nothing beats having fun. I probably had it too serious in the past and missed out on all the fun parts. :) I supposed its never too late to find out, isn’t it?

-

Well, for the newly initiated, you can find great music and a great crowd in hardrock cafe every thursday. Do go down and enjoy yourself. That matters more than anything.

Do things right, or Do the right things. Which one is more right?

Is it really so tough to understand or perhaps i just refuse to understand it.

hope

Just saw this from another fren’s blog. Thought its pretty meaningful and gel pretty well with the previous blog entry

Man can live for about forty days without food, and about three days without water, about eight minutes without air … but only for one second without hope.

LOST

June 2nd, 2006 by kerrlim

Well, this definitely has nothing to do with the famous TV series. Sorry, for those "LOST" enthusiasts out there.

-

Anyway, judging from the way I’am behaving, I will soon be part of this series…well, literally…"LOST".

-

Should I be moving forward? Or perhaps moving backwards is more appropriate? Or could it be sideways? Diagonally across? zigzag? hmmm, perhaps upwards might be better. (no, can’t fly) Well, if you are in the middle of nowhere, with the horizon in sight 360 degrees all around you, sometimes it doesn’t make much of a difference whether you move, since you have totally lose track of your perspective. What is forward and what is backward in this instance?

-

Perhaps I should just stay still and don’t move. However, stagnating just doesn’t seem right either. Cos I am really bothered. I really want to move towards something. I just can’t stay still. I really hope to find light at the end of the tunnel. But now, its as if there’s light everywhere or there’s simply no light.

-

Since all the routes look alike, should I just choose a direction and just move. Forward and backward has absolutely no bearing.

-

Questions then start coming in. What if it is the wrong direction? Somehow this direction doesn’t seem right. Should I turn back? Turn back to where? Can I pull thru?

-

Well, that’s where the issue of faith comes into play.

-

Faith is in action what you make yourself vulnerable - practicing what you believe. Faith stagnates unless you expose yourself. Faith is believe in things which common sense tell you not to. Faith is holding on to the very last moment and not be waivered.

-

Have Faith. Believe. Perservere.

5 Corporate Lessons

FIVE CORPORATE LESSONS

Corporate Lesson 1

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings.?The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs.?When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbor.?Before she says a word, Bob says, "I’ll give you $800 to drop that towel."?After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob.?After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 dollars and leaves.?The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs.?When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?"?"It was Bob the next door neighbor," she replies.?"Great!" the husband says, "Did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?"

-

Moral of the story: - If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

-

Corporate Lesson 2

A priest offered a lift to a Nun.?She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg.?The priest nearly had an accident.?After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg.?The nun said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?"?The priest removed his hand.?But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again.?The nun once again said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?"?The priest apologized "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak."?Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way.?On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129.?It said, "Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory."

-

Moral of the story: - If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

-

Corporate Lesson 3

A sales rep and a administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp.?They rub it and a Genie comes out.?The Genie says, "I’ll give each of you just one wish."?"Me first!?Me first!" says the admin. clerk.?"I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world."?Poof!?She’s gone.?"Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep.?"I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life."?Poof!?He’s gone.?"OK, you’re up," the Genie says to the manager.?The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."

-

Moral of the story: - Always let your boss have the first say.

-

Corporate Lesson 4

A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day.?A rabbit asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?"?The crow answered: - "Sure, why not."?So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested.?A fox jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

-

Moral of the story: - To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very high up.

-

Corporate Lesson 5

A turkey was chatting with a bull.?"I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, but I haven’t got the energy."?"Well, why don’t you nibble on my droppings?" replied the bull.?"They’re packed with nutrients."?The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.?The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.?Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree.?Soon he was spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

-

Moral of the story: - Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won’t keep you there.
